  1. Look through the viewer or camera before saying anything.
  2. Speak through the closed door: who is it, and what do you need?
  3. Ask a worker for their name and company, then say you will call to confirm.
  4. Call the company using the number on your own bill or the building office, not a number they give you.
  5. Ask a courier to leave the package or take it to the office if you are not expecting one.
  6. Avoid saying you are alone; say you will check with someone instead.
  7. Call the non-emergency police line if someone keeps knocking or lingers.
