    Printable first aid checklist

    Emergencies and first aid

    Tick each skill once you can do it without the guide.

    • Learn hands-only CPR, then take a certified class to practice with an instructor
    • Know the five and five for choking and practice it in a class
    • Cool a burn for twenty minutes under running water
    • Press a cut for ten minutes and know when it needs stitches
    • Stock and check a home first aid kit twice a year
    • Pack a go bag I can grab in five minutes
    • Map two ways out of every room and a meeting spot
    • Know the sudden signs of a stroke and call 911
    • Know severe allergy signs and help with their auto-injector
    • Know my address and what to say first on an emergency call
    • Know heat exhaustion from heat stroke, and cool fast while calling 911
    • Know frostbite and hypothermia signs, warm gently and call 911
    • Before a storm: alerts, charge up, water, go-bag and a safe room
    • Thunder heard: into a building or hard-topped car, wait half an hour
